  • It suits constipation in elderly or debilitated patients.
  • It helps generate new Blood once old, stagnant Blood has been expelled.
  • It also affects Wind Bi.
  • It stops coughing and rebellious Qi rising upward, reduces hardness below the Heart, eliminates sudden violent hemorrhage, breaks up both mobile and fixed abdominal masses, unblocks the vessels and relieves pain.
  • It drains stagnant abdominal Blood, expels Blood Heat, Dryness and itching, and moves congealed Blood in the skin.
  • Tao Ren and Flos Carthami Hong Hua both dispel Blood Stasis, unblock menstruation, invigorate the Blood and relieve pain. Tao Ren is heavy and sinking, descending Qi to attack Blood Stagnation in the lower body and interior, while also moistening the Intestines for constipation and stopping cough and wheezing. Hong Hua, by contrast, is light and floats upward, traveling to the exterior and upper body; in excessive doses it can drive Blood too forcefully to the head.
  • Stripped Peach Kernel Guang Tao Ren enters the Small Intestine and treats Blood-Dryness constipation and difficult stool, since it moistens, cools and harmonizes the Blood to open clumps and unblock Stagnation.
  • Dry-fried Peach Kernel Chao Tao Ren breaks up Blood Stasis more strongly and moistens to a greater degree.
  • De-fatted Peach Kernel Tao Ren Shuang loses its moistening ability entirely, making it suitable for Blood Stagnation in patients with loose stools from Spleen Deficiency.
