Anmerkungen

  • This herb is used to treat uterine fibroids.
  • Although classical formulas made frequent use of this herb, it sees little use today.
  • It breaks up Blood Stasis with great speed and moves forcefully and quickly through the channels and collaterals to reach areas otherwise hard to access, though its effect does not last long.
  • Meng Chong and Hirudo Shui Zhi both enter the Blood level of the Liver to strongly resolve Blood Stasis and accumulation. Shui Zhi is neutral in nature and acts gradually, steadily and consistently, whereas Meng Chong is slightly cold, somewhat toxic, and acts suddenly and powerfully but briefly.
  • Meng Chong, Eupolyphaga Tu Bie Chong and Hirudo Shui Zhi are all potent substances for breaking open severe Blood Stasis, and improper use can readily damage Qi, so tonic herbs should be added when needed to guard against this. In order of strength, Meng Chong is the most powerful, followed by Shui Zhi and then Tu Bie Chong.
  • The baked form, Bei Meng Chong, is less toxic and has a milder, less unpleasant taste and smell.
