Sang Bai Pi is the better choice for draining Lung Heat and for yellow Phlegm, while Ting Li Zi drains the Lungs and transforms watery Phlegm, and is used more for wheezing and swelling caused by an excess accumulation of water and Phlegm.
  • Prepared Mulberry Root Zhi Sang Pi is less cooling with a reduced draining action, but its ability to moisten the Lungs and calm wheezing is enhanced.
  • Dry-fried Mulberry Root Chao Sang Bai Pi is less cold, with diminished ability to drain the Lungs, promote urination, moisten and calm wheezing, and is therefore seldom used.
