- Bing Pian and Moschus She Xiang share an acrid, mobile, penetrating character that opens the Orifices and revives the Spirit, and the pair is frequently combined for loss of consciousness, febrile delirium, Summerheat fainting, Wind-Stroke, and Heat-toxin swollen sores. She Xiang is the stronger of the two at opening the Orifices and reviving the Spirit; it also invigorates the Blood, frees the collaterals, and breaks up Qi and Blood Stagnation, making it useful for hematomas, traumatic injury, abdominal masses, and Blood-Stasis amenorrhea. Bing Pian, by contrast, disperses constrained Fire to reduce swelling and relieve pain, treating red painful eyes, mouth ulcers, and toothache.
