Anmerkungen

  • This herb is frequently used for pain in the lower body.
  • It helps repair tissue damaged by trauma or internal degeneration.
  • Because it tonifies without causing stagnation, it is especially useful for arthritic conditions arising from Deficiency.
  • It is commonly applied both topically and internally for traumatic injury involving swelling and pain of the lower back and limbs.
  • It suits low back pain that has a strong component of Kidney Deficiency together with Wind-Dampness.
  • Used alone, it can treat polyuria and spermatorrhea.
  • Xu Duan and Hb. Taxilli Sang Ji Sheng share the same therapeutic action despite differing in nature and flavor, so the two may be combined, or one substituted for the other when unavailable. Both tonify the Liver and Kidneys, strengthen the sinews and bones, and augment Blood to calm the fetus. Sang Ji Sheng additionally expels Wind-Dampness, making it the better choice when lower back, sinew and bone pain stems from Liver and Kidney Deficiency complicated by Wind-Damp Bi. Xu Duan, by contrast, opens and disseminates all the channels and is especially skilled at reconnecting sinews and bones.
  • Dry-fried Dipsacus Chao Xu Duan tonifies more strongly while its acrid, dispersing qualities are tempered, directing it toward the Chong and Ren channels to stabilize them; it is the best form for calming the fetus, unless bleeding is present, in which case the charred form is preferred.
  • Charred Dipsacus Xu Duan Tan stops bleeding and settles the fetus, and is used for bleeding during pregnancy, threatened miscarriage, or continuous uterine bleeding.
  • Salt-prepared Dipsacus Yan Xu Duan enters the Kidney channel more readily and better fortifies the bones; it is often chosen when Kidney Deficiency produces weakness of the lower back and knees, urinary frequency, and leakage of Jing.
  • Wine-fried Dipsacus Jiu Xu Duan more strongly reconnects sinews and bones and regulates the blood vessels, and is used for traumatic injury, localized swelling, sprains, dislocations and fractures, as well as for Wind-Cold-Damp Bi and muscle cramps and spasm.
