Anmerkungen

  • Paired appropriately, it can address conditions arising from either Heat or Blood Deficiency.
  • It is the principal herb for settling Liver Wind, and its effect is often boosted by combining it with heavy, sedating substances such as Concha Haliotidis Shi Jue Ming, Concha Ostreae Mu Li, and Fossilia Ossis Mastodi Long Gu.
  • It is commonly used for headache.
  • It addresses head Wind, headache, dizziness, vertigo, epilepsy with pronounced convulsions, limb spasms, speech difficulty, and Wind-stroke or Wind-Phlegm conditions generally.
  • Tradition holds that it sharpens memory and builds strength.
  • Its use would be more widespread if it were cheaper; new cultivation methods are gradually lowering its cost.
  • Some sources credit it with dispersing Wind-Damp Bi, calming fright, and moistening Liver Blood.
  • It is able to promote circulation in the cerebral and coronary arteries.
  • Treating Liver Wind fundamentally means nourishing and moving the Blood.
  • Tian Ma and Ram. cum Uncis Uncariae Gou Teng resemble each other: both calm the Liver and extinguish Wind for dizziness, vertigo, and headache, and are frequently paired. Gou Teng, sweet and Cold, treats Wind induced by Heat, whereas Tian Ma, sweet, warm and dry, treats Wind-Cold with Phlegm-Dampness.
