Location

  1. 01Anterosuperior to SJ-21 Ermen, level with the base of the auricle, on the back edge of the temple's hairline where the superficial temporal artery passes.
  2. 02About 0.5 cun anterior to the upper edge of the ear's root, in a shallow hollow at the posterior hairline border of the temple. Note: it sits just behind where the superficial temporal artery can be felt.
  3. 03Superior to SJ-21 Ermen, at the natural hairline.

Needling

  1. 01Insert obliquely to 0.1–0.3 cun, taking care to avoid the artery.
  2. 02Moxibustion may be used.
  3. 03Horizontal insertion to 0.3–0.5 cun.
