Notes

  • Once simply a folk remedy, violet has become a standard ingredient in many modern Chinese herbal formulas for clearing Heat and toxins.
  • Applied externally to drain abscesses.
  • It is said to be useful for tuberculosis and cancer.
  • Both Zi Hua Di Ding and Hb. Taraxaci Pu Gong Ying are bitter and cold, resolving toxicity and treating Yang-type sores and toxic swellings, but Zi Hua Di Ding also cools the Blood and is particularly strong at resolving toxicity, making it more effective for deep-set toxic sores, carbuncles, and as an aid in treating snakebite, whereas Pu Gong Ying is especially good at descending and dispersing stagnant Qi and is most effective for breast abscesses.
