Notes
- The processed leaves yield Natural Indigo, known as Qing Dai.
- Its most common use is to reduce maculae in acute infectious disorders.
- It is typically taken in powder or pill form.
- Indirubin, used in cancer treatment, is derived from Indigo. Studies indicate it works well against chronic myelocytic leukemia while producing few side effects.
- Mildly toxic, it is frequently applied externally for skin conditions.
- It clears Heat Toxin from the Heart, Lung and Stomach, and moves both the Qi and Blood Levels.
- It is applicable to Heat-induced encephalitis and inflammation of the spinal fluid.
- It may be given both internally and applied externally.
- It can address Gallbladder Heat.
- It resolves sores stemming from childhood malnutrition and from weapon poisoning.
- Da Qing Ye, Indigo Naturalis (Qing Dai) and Rx. Isatidis (Bei Ban Lan Gen) all come from the same plant source; together they cool Blood Heat and reduce skin blotching. Qing Dai is the preferred choice for toxic sores from Fire and Heat, rashes from Warm-toxin, hemoptysis, hematemesis and childhood convulsions. Da Qing Ye and Bei Ban Lan Gen both cool Heat toxin affecting the Heart and Stomach, though Da Qing Ye is typically chosen for Warm-toxin rashes, while Bei Ban Lan Gen addresses severe head-region febrile disorders and throat obstruction caused by mumps.
