Manifestations

  • Dark or hyper-pigmented, coin-sized lesions appearing on the scalp, trunk, limbs, and elsewhere
  • A thick, hard, tightly adherent scale covers the area.
  • Once removed, the scale exposes a shiny, light pink membrane
  • Petechiae appear beneath the membrane
  • Lesions present for a long time may merge together
