Localización
- 01At the wrist crease, between the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis tendons, on a level with HT-7 Shenmen. Note: if the palmaris longus tendon is absent, locate the point on the ulnar side of the flexor carpi radialis tendon instead.
- 02In the hollow at the midpoint of the wrist's transverse crease, between the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis tendons.
- 03With the palm turned upward, the point sits at the midpoint of the wrist's transverse crease.
Punción
- 01Insert straight in, 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
- 02For carpal tunnel syndrome, angle the needle distally along the carpal tunnel, 0.5 to 1 cun.
- 03Caution: the median nerve runs just under this point, so a marked electric sensation is a common needling response. That response is acceptable, but once it appears, further manipulation should be avoided, as it may injure the nerve.
- 04Straight insertion, 0.3 to 0.5 cun, producing local distention and soreness, or a numb, electric sensation reaching toward the fingertips.
- 05For vascular disorders of the wrist, angle the needle toward the wrist's blood vessels; this produces local distention and pain, or possibly a numb, electric sensation reaching the fingertips.
- 06Moxibustion may be used.
