Notes

  • This herb is reported to tonify the Spleen and Stomach, transform Stomach Qi, generate fluids and nourish the Blood, while moderating Interior urgency, relieving abdominal pain, thirst and fatigue, and stopping bleeding caused by Lung Fire.
  • For an object lodged in the throat, small amounts of the thick syrup are swallowed slowly to help it pass.
  • Yi Tang and Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao both tonify Middle Jiao Qi, moderate urgency and relieve pain. Gan Cao resolves toxicity but does not nourish the Blood; it moistens the Lungs to stop coughing, though its fluid-generating action is weaker than that of Yi Tang, which generates fluids, especially in the Lungs, relieves thirst and nourishes the Blood.
