Manifestations

  • Loose stools accompanied by straining that worsens once the bowel movement finishes
  • Repeated bowel movements each passing only a scant amount
  • Bowel movements that are yellow or brown in color, thin and watery with a rank smell, or else sticky and pasty resembling jam, or a sticky discharge, or one containing pus and blood
  • A hot, burning feeling at the anus
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Reduced volume of red-tinged urine
  • Fever persisting even with heavy sweating, or a fierce fever peaking in the afternoon, or, in severe cases, high fever with loss of consciousness
