Anmerkungen

  • This herb suits cases where Heat predominates.
  • It can treat gynecological swellings, sores, and other skin rashes caused by Damp-Heat.
  • According to one source, it benefits Obstruction Syndrome presenting with frequent vomiting, difficult urination and/or defecation, masses, and distention.
  • Research has shown it inhibits the growth of cancer cells.
  • The leaves are reputed to cure anal fistula, hematochezia, ascariasis, ophthalmia and female tinea sores, and to detoxify mineral poisoning.
  • For a carbuncle at the thumb tip, the herb is burned to ash, mixed with vegetable oil, and applied to the lesion.
  • The powdered herb is taken orally for sore throat.
  • It is also used to promote contractions for a prolonged pregnancy or dystocia.
  • Qu Mai and Hb. Polygoni Avicularis Bian Xu both clear Heat and drain pathogenic water to relieve painful urinary dysfunction, and are frequently combined for burning, painful, difficult urination. Bian Xu, being bitter and downward-directing, enters the Bladder directly to cool Damp-Heat and works best for scanty, dark, hard-to-pass urine from Damp-Heat, and can also treat Damp-Heat jaundice. Qu Mai instead promotes Small Intestine function to guide Internal Heat outward, making it better suited to burning urinary pain or Heat-induced hematuria; it also breaks up Blood Stasis and opens the channels to treat amenorrhea.
  • The aerial parts of Dianthus, Qu Mai Sui, are more effective at cooling Heat, promoting urination, dispersing Blood Stasis, and opening the channels.
