Localisation

  1. 01On the thigh's medial side, 6 cun above SP-10 Xuehai, along the line joining SP-10 Xuehai to SP-12 Chongmen. Note: this is roughly two hand-widths above SP-10 Xuehai, or midway between the tibiofemoral joint line and SP-12 Chongmen.
  2. 026 cun proximal to SP-10 Xuehai, on the medial side of the sartorius muscle.

Puncture

  1. 01Insert perpendicularly, 0.5–1 cun.
  2. 02Caution: needling too deeply risks puncturing the femoral artery.
  3. 03Moxa may be used.
  4. 04Perpendicular insertion, 1–2 cun.
