Localisation

  1. 01On the back of the forearm, 4 cun proximal to the wrist's transverse crease, between the radius and ulna.
  2. 024 cun proximal to SJ-4 Yangchi, in the hollow between radius and ulna, radial to the extensor digitorum communis muscle. Note: split the distance from SJ-4 Yangchi to the lateral epicondyle into thirds — the point falls where the distal third meets the middle third.
  3. 031 cun proximal to SJ-6 Zhigou, between the radius and the ulna.

Puncture

  1. 01Angle slightly toward the ulna, or obliquely toward the elbow or wrist.
  2. 02Perpendicular insertion, 1–1.5 cun, producing distension and soreness that spreads toward the elbow.
  3. 03Oblique insertion joined through to PC-4 Yangchi, roughly 2–3 cun, giving distension and numbness that may reach the fingertips or elbow.
  4. 04Perpendicular needling, 0.5–1 cun.
  5. 05Moxa is suitable.
