Localisation

  1. 01On the forearm's flexor surface, 5 cun proximal to PC-7 Daling, along the line joining PC-7 Daling and PC-3 Quze, between the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis tendons. If the palmaris longus tendon is absent, find the point on the ulnar side of the flexor carpi radialis tendon instead. Alternatively, bisect the distance from the cubital crease to PC-7 Daling, then measure 1 cun distal to that midpoint.
  2. 025 cun proximal to the midpoint of the wrist's transverse crease, between the two tendons.

Puncture

  1. 01Insert straight in, 0.5 to 1.5 cun, or angle proximally, 1 to 1.5 cun.
  2. 02Perpendicular insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun, produces local distention and soreness, or a distended, numb feeling extending to the fingertips.
  3. 03Moxibustion may be used.
