Associations

Notes

  • This herb addresses Bi pain in both the upper and lower body.
  • Its mild nature makes it suitable for Deficient patients.
  • In the 'ironing' method, it is dry-fried until warm, placed hot in a cloth bag moistened with rice wine, and applied to aching joints, sites of abdominal pain, or areas of paralysis.
  • As a tincture or wine preparation, it is particularly effective for uterine bleeding.
  • Used by itself, either internally or topically, it treats itching, eczema, and other skin disorders.
  • Can Sha and Fr. Chaenomelis Mu Gua both harmonize the Middle, eliminate Dampness, and treat cramping following vomiting and diarrhea. Mu Gua is the more effective of the two at harmonizing the Middle, removing Dampness, calming the Liver, and relaxing the sinews, and it can also be used for Blood Deficiency with Liver Excess where malnourished tendons cause cramps and pain. Can Sha, for its part, is well suited to expelling Wind for Wind-Dampness and is also effective against itching.
