Manifestations

  • Lesions form on the outer surfaces of all four limbs
  • Can also occur on the trunk and scalp
  • Papules that are pink or red, with clearly defined edges
  • Plaques having clearly defined edges
  • Multiple layers of dry, silvery scaling
  • Scraping may reveal a semi-transparent membrane
  • Small hemorrhagic petechiae may appear
  • Lesion size can range from dot-sized to coin-sized
  • Lesion shape can range from circular to geographic
  • On the scalp, lesions are dark red and bear grayish-white scales
