Manifestations

  • Menstrual cycles that are irregular
  • Menstruation arriving late
  • Menstrual flow that is scanty
  • A bloated, distended feeling in the lower abdomen
  • Menstrual blood that is purple and contains clots
  • Abdominal pain that intensifies with pressure and eases once menstruation begins
  • Applying pressure aggravates the pain
  • Pain lessens once clots are passed
  • Lower limb swelling and fluid retention
  • A sense of fullness and oppression in the chest and epigastrium
  • Mouth dryness
  • Menses that are dark purple with clots, or with dark purple edges

Indications

  • Irregularity of the menstrual cycle
  • Delayed onset of menses
  • Painful menstruation
  • Diminished menstrual flow

Précautions

  • Not indicated when Blood Deficiency and Cold are absent.
  • Not to be used in cases of heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • Must not be administered during pregnancy.
