Lokalisation

- 02Behind the earlobe, in the depression between the mastoid process and the mandible.
- 03Midway between the tip of the mastoid process and the angle of the mandible.
- 04Posterior to the earlobe, in the hollow between the mastoid process and the mandible.
Nadelung
- 01Insert perpendicularly, aiming toward the opposite ear, 0.5 to 1 cun.
- 02Caution: angling the needle too far anteriorly or posteriorly causes pain and can leave discomfort when opening and closing the mouth for some time afterward.
- 03For deaf-mutism: insert obliquely, angled medially and downward, 1.5 to 2 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness, sometimes spreading toward the pharynx with a constricted, hot feeling.
- 04For parotitis or facial paralysis: insert straight, aimed toward the opposite eyeball, 0.5 to 1 cun. Sensation: distention and pain at the base of the ear, sometimes spreading to the front of the tongue.
- 05Needle straight in, 0.5 to 1 cun.
- 06Moxibustion may be used.
- 07Note: have the patient open the mouth to insert the needle, then close it — this allows for a deeper insertion.
