Lokalisation
- 01With the gaze fixed straight ahead, this point sits 1 cun below the pupil, in the hollow over the infraorbital foramen. Note: the foramen can be located by pressing downward from the orbital rim, roughly 0.3 cun beneath its edge.
- 02Roughly 1 cun inferior to the pupil, at the infraorbital foramen.
- 03Situated directly below the pupil, on the lower rim of the orbital cavity.
Nadelung
- 01Needle straight in, 0.2–0.4 cun.
- 02Or needle transversely to link with nearby points, such as SI-18 Quanliao or LI-20 Yingxiang.
- 03Or angle the needle obliquely, upward and laterally, along the infraorbital foramen, 0.3–0.5 cun.
- 04Caution: needling too deep along the foramen may injure the eyeball.
- 05Insert straight in, 0.3–0.8 cun, or transversely, 0.8–1 cun. Expected sensation: local soreness and distention.
- 06For trigeminal neuralgia, the needle may enter from below, directed laterally and upward, 0.3–0.5 cun, into the infraorbital foramen. This can produce a numb, electric sensation radiating to the upper lip.
- 07Caution: when angling the needle upward, take care to avoid puncturing the eyeball.
- 08Or needle straight in, 0.2–0.3 cun.
- 09Caution: deeper insertion is not advisable.

Vorsichtshinweise
- Several classical texts state that moxibustion should not be used at this point.
- Other sources advise using moxibustion with caution.
- Lifting-and-thrusting manipulation should be avoided, since it risks damaging the infraorbital nerve as it exits the foramen.
