Lokalisation

  1. 01On the upper part of the deltoid muscle, anterior and inferior to the acromion. With the arm fully abducted, a depression appears at the front edge of the acromioclavicular joint — that is where the point lies.
  2. 02Directly below the anterior border of the acromion, in the depression that forms when the arm is abducted.
  3. 03Centered on the upper part of the deltoid muscle at the shoulder, between the acromion and the greater tubercle of the humerus. Abducting the arm until it is parallel to the ground reveals a clear hollow just in front of the shoulder, marking the point.
  4. 04In the hollow anterior and inferior to the acromion, at the deltoid muscle's origin. Note: SJ-14 Jianliao lies in the corresponding hollow posterior and inferior to the acromion — abducting the arm makes both depressions easier to palpate and often visible.
  5. 05With the arm fully abducted, two depressions form at the anterior border of the acromioclavicular joint; the point occupies the more anterior of the two.

Nadelung

  1. 01Needle perpendicularly or obliquely, 0.8 to 1.5 cun.
  2. 02Moxibustion may be used.
  3. 03With the arm raised, insert straight, aiming the needle toward HT-1 Jiquan in the armpit, 2 to 3 cun.
  4. 04For supraspinatus tendinitis: let the arm hang loosely at the side and insert between the acromion and the greater tubercle of the humerus, 0.7 to 1 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness, occasionally reaching the forearm.
  5. 05For inflammation around the shoulder joint, needle obliquely, joining toward M-UE-48 Jianneiling, then toward SJ-14 Jianliao, and finally along the deltoid muscle, 2 to 3 cun. Sensation: distention and soreness spreading across the shoulder, or an electric feeling reaching toward the forearm.
  6. 06For restricted shoulder abduction, insert transversely with the needle directed downward along the deltoid muscle, 2 to 3 cun. Sensation: distention and soreness in the upper arm.
  7. 07With the arm abducted, insert perpendicularly toward the center of the axilla, 1 to 1.5 cun.
  8. 08Insert transverse-obliquely, directed distally toward the elbow, 1.5 to 2 cun.
