Localisation

On the abdominal midline, 5 cun above the navel and 3 cun below the sternocostal angle.

Puncture

  1. 01Insert perpendicularly, 0.8 to 1.5 cun.
  2. 02Caution: deep needling in thin patients may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
  3. 03Perpendicular insertion, 1.5 to 2 cun, producing distention and a heavy sensation in the upper abdomen.
  4. 04Straight insertion, 0.5 to 1.2 cun.
  5. 05Moxibustion may be used.
