Waiyinlian

With the patient supine, locate this point roughly 1 cun inferior to the inguinal ligament, lateral to the femoral artery where its pulsation can be felt.

1. 01Insert perpendicularly, angling the needle slightly laterally, to a depth of 1-1.5 cun; this produces local distention and soreness, or an electric, numbing sensation radiating toward the knee.
2. 02Caution: Avoid puncturing the femoral artery with the needle.
