Notes
- Japanese Fr. Aesuclus Suo Luo Zi aids intestinal digestion and absorption, and it is also used to make skin lotion.
- In Germany, the seed is made into an aqueous extract to treat hemorrhoids, functional uterine bleeding and broken bones, and as a general anti-inflammatory.
- It is said to be the most reliable treatment for Stomach pain.
- Bitter and slightly cooling, the flesh eases the Middle and descends Qi, treating epigastric, Liver and diaphragmatic distention and bloating, accumulation from childhood nutritional impairment, malarial and dysenteric disorders, and hematemesis from overexertion injury.
- The flesh also settles the Stomach and unblocks the collaterals, working especially well when charred on a tile, or soaked in wine and roasted, before being taken.
- A single Aesculi seed benefits epigastric pain: shell it, pulverize it, decoct it and drink it; taken three times, it can also expel parasites in the stool.
