Associations

Notes

  • Compared with Secretio Moschus She Xiang, this herb has a milder effect.
  • It works particularly well for Wind-Stroke collapse brought on by Phlegm.
  • Su He Xiang and Moschus She Xiang share an acrid, warm, aromatic nature and both open the Orifices and rouse the Spirit. She Xiang has the greater power to open the Orifices, rouse the Spirit and unblock the channels and collaterals, making it the choice for Qi and Blood Stagnation presenting with swelling and pain. Su He Xiang, by contrast, more strongly clears filth and expels Phlegm, addressing turbid filthy Qi and Wind-Stroke with heavy Phlegm and loss of consciousness.
  • Su He Xiang and Benzoinum An Xi Xiang both open the Orifices and address loss of consciousness. An Xi Xiang matches Su He Xiang in strength but is less warming; it also invigorates the Blood and is applied to chest and abdominal pain and postpartum coma. Su He Xiang, meanwhile, transforms Phlegm and clears filth for Wind-Stroke collapse caused by Phlegm.
  • Its aroma is so penetrating that genuine material rubbed into the palm can still be detected on the back of the hand.
  • Applied externally, it treats skin irritation, cracked skin, sores and wounds.
