Associations

Notes

  • It benefits the eyes by tonifying Liver Yin and clearing Liver Heat.
  • It enters the Liver channel at both the Qi and Blood levels; its sweetness tonifies Blood while its coldness clears Heat.
  • It is commonly used for progressive vision loss, blurred vision, and visual obstruction.
  • It also moistens Dryness of the Liver.
  • This herb may also be used to stuff a pillow.
  • Mi Meng Hua and Flos Eriocauli Gu Jing Cao both expel Wind, clear Heat, benefit the eyes and reduce superficial visual obstruction, and the pair is frequently combined for eye disorders. Gu Jing Cao is acrid, sweet and cool, entering the Liver and Stomach channels, and suits eye problems as well as Wind-related headache and toothache. Mi Meng Hua is sweet and cold and enters the Liver channel alone; its rising, dispersing action is milder than that of Gu Jing Cao, but it excels at simultaneously clearing Liver Heat, tonifying Liver Blood and moistening Liver Dryness, making it suitable for eye disorders of every type.
  • Mi Meng Hua and Hb. Celosiae Qing Xiang Zi both clear the Liver, sharpen vision and reduce superficial visual obstruction. Mi Meng Hua nourishes Liver Blood while clearing Heat, whereas Qing Xiang Zi is bitter, cold and sinking in nature, making it suitable only for Liver Fire or Heat toxin surging upward into the eyes.
