- This herb's effect is twice that of Hippocampus Hai Ma, and it is considerably larger, with a longer body and a straight, uncurved tail. Hai Ma, which is warm and sweet, fortifies the Kidneys, warms Yang and treats impotence, fixed abdominal masses, swollen and deep-seated toxic sores, difficult labor, and pain from Qi and Blood Stasis.
- Jiu Zhi Hai Long, wine-prepared Pipe Fish, has a better taste and a stronger action on fortifying the Kidneys and tonifying Yang.
