    Drains Fire and resolves Fire toxicity.

    Da Huang,* for abscesses, lesions, carbuncles, furuncles, burns, swelling and inflammation due to toxic Heat.

    Clears Heat, dries Dampness, drains Fire and detoxifies.

Manifestations

  • Boils appear on the face, head, neck, and hip areas
  • In the early stage, they may present as hard nodules
  • Redness and swelling confined to the area
  • Painful and hot to the touch
  • In later stages, they may soften and discharge a whitish-yellow exudate
  • A pus-filled, in-sized lesion may develop at the apex
  • Nearby lymph nodes may become swollen

Indications

  • Furuncle formation
  • Herpes affecting the genital region
  • Boil eruptions
  • Herpes occurring in the context of AIDS/HIV

Notes

Pulverize the ingredients in equal proportions into a fine powder, then combine with either warm boiled water or honey and apply directly to the affected lesion.
