Composition

  • Huo Ma RenSm. Cannabis5–30 g

    Moistens the Intestines and unblocks the bowels.

    • Xing Ren, Bai Shao
    Zhi Shi,* for constipation due to Heat induced Dryness in the Stomach and Intestines.
  • Xing RenSm. Armeniacae2–10 g

    Descends Qi, moistens Intestines, unblocks bowels and harmonizes.

  • Bai ShaoRx. Paeoniae Alba2–15 g

    Nourishes Blood. astringes Yin and harmonizes the Interior.

  • Zhi ShiFr. Aurantii Immaturus2–10 g

    Disperses intestinal accumulation, descends Qi and reduces distention.

Modifications

Précautions

  • Not to be used by pregnant patients.
  • When treating constipation accompanied by Blood Deficiency, adjust the formula.
  • Adjust the formula when treating patients who are extremely weak.

Interactions

This formula is capable of resolving constipation brought on by anti-psychotic medications.
