Manifestations

  • Pale red, moist patches about the size of a coin, appearing on the scalp, trunk, limbs, and elsewhere
  • A tightly adherent scale covers the lesion
  • Once the scale is lifted, a shiny, light pink membrane is exposed
  • Petechiae lie underneath this membrane
  • The condition develops gradually
  • Fresh lesions arise now and then
  • In long-term cases, it can occur during any season
