Manifestations
- Presence of hookworm infestation
- In the early stage: skin inflammation featuring an itchy, red, papule-and-vesicle rash at the point where the larvae entered; coughing that comes and goes; asthmatic breathing; feverishness; an elevated eosinophil count; and phlegm streaked with blood.
- In the later stage: loose stools, discomfort in the abdomen, loss of appetite, anemia accompanied by fatigue, pale complexion, misshapen nails, breathlessness upon exertion, a pounding heartbeat, swelling of the extremities, and failure of the heart.
