Composition

  • Gou TengRam. cum Uncis Uncariae6–16 g

    Extinguishes Wind, alleviates spasms, drains Liver Heat and pacifies Liver *Yang.*

    calms the Liver and extinguishes Wind.
    for seizures, convulsions spasms, tics, hemiplegia due to Wind-Stroke, numbness and pain in the limbs, and stubborn migraines or trigeminal neuralgia from Liver Wind or Liver Yang Rising.
    for convulsions due to Liver Wind.
    for seizures associated with high fever.
    • Tian Ma, Ling Yang Jiao
    Quan Xie,* for high fevers with convulsions or muscular tetany.
    • Tian Ma, Ling Yang Jiao, Ren Shen
    Quan Xie, for high fevers with convulsions or muscular tetany with concurrent Qi* Deficiency

Manifestations

  • Frequently observed in pediatric patients
  • Involvement of both eyes
  • A deviating, crooked alignment of the eyes and mouth
  • Dilated pupils
  • A state of nervous unease
  • Stiffness of the body
  • Dizziness and vertigo severe enough to cause falling
  • Head pain accompanied by a pulling, drawing feeling
  • Limbs that are numb and shaking
  • Involuntary twitching and writhing movements of the hands and feet
  • Impaired language function
  • An unsteady, wobbling walk
  • In cases of Wind-Stroke: abrupt loss of consciousness, a stiff tongue accompanied by aphasia, facial paralysis, and hemiplegia
