Localización

  1. 013 cun proximal to the tip of the lateral malleolus, on the fibula's anterior border.
  2. 023 cun directly above the lateral malleolus, in the hollow between the fibula's posterior border and the peroneus longus and brevis tendons — roughly one handbreadth proximal to the malleolus's prominence.

Punción

  1. 01Perpendicular insertion, 1–1.5 cun. Separate the peroneal tendons from the fibula to define the groove; angle 0.5 cun posteriorly, then go perpendicular, to avoid striking the fibula. Needle this point last so the foot's movement doesn't bend the needle, and keep the leg and foot still once needled.
  2. 02Straight insertion, 1–2 cun, which may be through-needled toward SP-6 Sanyinjiao; expect local distension and soreness that may spread to the sole of the foot.
  3. 03Moxibustion may be applied.
