Notas
- It is used similarly to Scorpio, Quan Xie, for toxic sores and convulsions, though it is considered the stronger of the two.
- Used alone and applied topically, it treats submandibular lymphadenitis.
- It is used for cancers of the Stomach and Liver.
- It disperses masses in the hypochondriac region.
- For scrofula and ulcerated sores, roast it with tea and grind to a powder; first wash the lesion with a decoction of Rx. Glycyrrhizae, Gan Cao, then apply the powder.
- For ulcers and tumors, grind one Wu Gong together with one piece of Alumen, Ming Fan, one Omphalia, Lei Wan, and 6g of Rx. Stemonae, Bai Bu, then blend with vinegar.
- For dactylitis in women with a protruding, ulcerated polyp, apply powdered Wu Gong directly to the lesion and cover with a mixture of Rz. Arisaematis Preparatum, Zhi Tian Nan Xing, and vinegar.
- Wu Gong, Scorpio Quan Xie, and Bombyx Batryticatus, Jiang Can, all dispel Wind and stop spasms, and severe cases often combine all three; each can also reduce swelling and disperse clumping. Jiang Can is used mainly for Phlegm-Heat and throat Bi. Wu Gong is pungent and warm and the most intense of the three, best suited to opisthotonos, convulsions and rigid spasms, whereas Quan Xie is pungent and neutral, better for Heat, and more strongly extinguishes Wind and stops spasms — making it more effective for tremors of the hands and feet, twitching and torticollis. Both Wu Gong and Quan Xie attack toxin and treat Heat-toxin sores, scrofula and phlegm nodules.
