Notas

  • One source classifies this herb among the diuretics.
  • It is used where congested Qi and Dampness cause abdominal bloating and generalized edema.
  • It sends all Qi downward, reduces water Qi, halts sudden turmoil disorder, opens the Large and Small Intestines, strengthens the Spleen, frees the Stomach, regulates the Middle Jiao, and reduces floating edema of the muscles and skin, leg Qi, restless fetal Qi, morning sickness and a stifling sensation in the chest during pregnancy.
  • It is mainly used for its anti-parasitic action, and for more severe, acute presentations of long-standing digestive disorders involving dysbiosis or parasites.
  • Da Fu Pi and Sm. Arecae Bing Lang both send Qi downward, help remove pathogenic water and reduce edema. Da Fu Pi is acrid and light, descends Qi more moderately, and disperses both formless and formed Qi Stagnation, while also clearing and unblocking Excess Phlegm from the Spleen and Stomach. Bing Lang, bitter, acrid and heavy, has a strongly sinking nature that forcefully sends Qi downward, breaks up Qi Stagnation, drains formed Qi Stagnation, treats edematous swelling of the skin, and kills parasites.
