Manifestaciones

  • Lesions typically form on the outer sides of the limbs
  • They tend to be most severe over the outer elbows and knees
  • They can also cluster on the trunk and scalp
  • The lesions present as pink or red papules and plaques having well-defined borders
  • Pruritus is intense
  • Multiple layers of dry, silvery scaling characterize the lesions
  • Light scraping reveals a pink, semi-transparent membrane
  • Continued scraping may produce tiny blood spots
  • Lesion size ranges from dot-sized to coin-sized, and their shape may be circular or geographic
  • On the scalp, lesions appear dark red and bear grayish-white scales, with hair sometimes growing through in tufts
  • Hair loss does not occur
  • Finger- and toenail lesions present as small pitted depressions
