Ku ShenRx. Sophorae Flavescentis20 g
Clears Heat, dries Dampness, disperses Wind, kills parasites and stops itching.
Huang BaiCx. Phellodendri15 g
Drains Damp-Heat especially from the Lower Jiao, drains Fire and relieves Fire toxicity.
Long Dan CaoRx. Gentianae15 g
Drains Damp-Heat from the Liver and Gallbladder channels.
Di Fu ZiFr. Kochiae15 g
Clears Damp-Heat, promotes urination, expels Dampness and stops itching.
- Ku Shen
for skin irritation and itchiness due to Damp-Heat.
Di YuRx. Sanguisorbae15 g
Cools the Blood, clears Toxic Heat, astringes fluids and generates flesh.
- Huang Bai
as a plaster for eczema and other Damp-Heat skin lesions.
- Ku Shen
as a plaster for burns and other Damp-Heat skin lesions such as eczema.

A Damp-Heat pattern

Reddening of the skin
Localized swelling
Small fluid-filled vesicles
A weeping discharge
Formation of crusts
Scaling of the skin
A sensation of itch
Lesions arise suddenly on the inner surfaces of the four limbs (the elbow and knee creases)
The face and neck may also be involved
They may also occur on the back of the hands and feet, and on the scrotum
Erythema is present
The lesions can present as bright red, swollen plaques bearing papules or pustules, and vesicles or watery blisters
Suppuration occurs, which later develops into scabs
As many as two or three lesion types may occur together
The margin is consistently unclear
The itching is severe
Lesions in the acute stage are frequently mistaken for contact dermatitis
