1. 01In the hollow located 3-4 cun to the side of the lower tip of the 3rd lumbar vertebra's spinous process.
2. 02In the hollow roughly 3.5 cun lateral to the lower border of L-4 (DU-3, Yaoyanguan).
3. 03In the hollow 3.8 cun to the side of the lower border of the 4th lumbar vertebra.

1. 01Insert perpendicularly or transversely, 1.5-2 cun deep; the needling sensation is a distending soreness in the low back that may spread to the buttocks.
2. 02Insert perpendicularly to a depth of 1-1.5 cun.
3. 03Needle straight in, 0.8-1.2 cun deep.
4. 04Moxibustion may also be used.
